Irish Tune from County Derry
  • Irish Tune from County Derry

    SKU: BBBQ880505

Also known as Londonderry Air, this is an ancient and popular folk tune. It has been set many times, but perhaps most famous is Grainger's setting made originally for piano and begun a decade before the lyric Oh Danny Boy was ascribed to the tune. Grainger borrowed the tune for his setting from the 1855 publication The Petrie Collection of the Ancient Music of Ireland.
