Queen of the Night Aria
This custom brass ensemble arrangement was written to feature virtuoso trumpet artist, Ryan Anthony, on piccolo trumpet, and was recorded by the Burning River Brass on Of Knights and Castles.
Der Holle Rache kocht in menem Herzen (Hell's revenge boils in my heart) from The Magic Flute (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) is the famous 2nd act 'revenge' aria for coloratura soprano. In one of the opera’s most recognizable arias, Pamina’s mother, the Queen of the Night, flies into a fit of vengeful rage. Placing a knife in her daughter’s hand, the Queen of the Night tells Pamina that if she fails to assassinate Sarastro, she will be cursed and disowned.
This iconic aria was featured in the film Amadeus and in the collection of music aboard NASA’s Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft, to name but a few notable placements.
